Review of 2021

While not being quite a normal year, we have been able to do much more with the ponies than last year.

We bred four foals. Three were born within a week in late March. The other was a rather later arrival than we anticipated at the end of July. We were thrilled that Hollybrooke Debbie had a filly by Hollybrooke Tinker. She is a full sister to the hugely successful Hollybrooke Duke and we don't have a filly out of Debbie to carry on the line so she will be staying with us.

The other three foals were all by Skywalker. Temperament has always been hugely important to us and all three have absolutely amazing temperaments. They have been so quiet, easy and willing from the start. The youngest foal is still only three months old, a beautiful dark liver chestnut colt (photo on right) out of our wonderful mare Coffee Crunch. He is a half brother to both our stallion Hollybrooke Tinker and our champion mare Hollybrooke Melitta. He will be looking for a new home when he is old enough to wean at the end of the year. He will be a fantastic show or family pony and has the temperament to be somebody's best friend.
Our showing outings were limited but were still very successful. Hollybrooke Grace was champion New Forest pony and reserve champion overall M&M at Bath and West. She followed this with a win in an extremely strong mare class at at the NFPEC Show (both are classed as Elite Shows by the Breed Society) Hollybrooke Melitta was third at Royal Windsor. She then won at both NPS Summer championships and the Breed Show. She has recorded six wins on the six occasions she competed as an adult at the Breed Show, quite a record! For the rest of the summer she has been my riding pony. A role she has taken to brilliantly especially as I only broke her last autumn at the age of eleven. She returns to brood mare duties next year.
The other pony we showed was our two year colt Hollybrooke Jupiter. He started the season by being champion colt at the stallion grading and finished it by being best two year old colt at the Breed Show. We are very pleased with him and think he promises much for the future.

Two ponies have left us for new homes. The foal Hollybrooke Jewel and the two year old Hollybrooke Destiny who was gelded before leaving us. We hope their new owners have lots of fun and success with them and enjoy them as much as we have.

Lots of exciting things happening in 2022. We have six mares in foal, two are in foal to Hollybrooke Tinker and four to Skywalker. In March John and I will take over as joint presidents of the New Forest Breed Society.
