We enjoyed two busy days at the Breed Show. It was lovely to catch up with so many people we have not see for two years and to see so many ponies we had only heard about.
On Saturday we took our two year old colt Hollybrooke Jupiter (photo left). He was third in the two and three year old stud colt class beaten by two three year olds. That extra year makes such a difference at this age but there were a lot of very complimentary comments about him which promises much for the future.
On Monday we took both Hollybrooke Grace and Hollybrooke Melitta. Grace was not the judges cup of tea this time and was fifth. She has started to change her coat which is often a problem at the Breed Show and didn't quite make the picture she did earlier on in the season. Melitta was a star as always. She won the small yeld mare class. It is a class she has competed in five times and has won on every occasion. The only other time she has competed as an adult at the Breed Show she won the novice brood mare instead. On Monday she followed her class win by being reserve mare champion. Instead of a show picture the photo below shows her being ridden our granddaughter a few days before the show. Having only been broken last Autumn age eleven, it is a role she has taken to brilliantly.
